Review: tokidoki x Lovehoney Bones Textured Pleasure Cup

I feel like I should start this post with a disclaimer. I am not the intended user for this product, I do not have the anatomy it was designed for, and most of my motivation for getting it was curiosity about if this type of toy could be adapted to work for my anatomy.

Turns out the answer to that question is ‘yes’. Sort of.

tokidokicup

The Bones Textured Pleasure Cup is from the collaborative collection between Lovehoney and tokidoki, an Italian brand whose cute Japanese street art inspired designs can be found on pretty much every type of product you can imagine.

The cup is 2” long internally, and the cavity has a diameter of 0.8”. Despite the round shape of the black plastic packaging, the cup is egg shaped, with the closed end being more ‘pointy’ than the end with the hole. It’s made from TPE, so is porous (and therefore non-sterilisable). However, this is forgivable as it’s an external toy, and also intended for a single use. You can use it for multiple uses, especially if you have anatomy like mine and can’t rip it, but the number of uses are still limited. There are multiple textures available- Bones (which features a heart and two crossed bones), Flash (which has lightning bolts), Star (with a cute star character), and Solitaire (which has a… diamond character? I think it’s a diamond), and all are £9.99. All are non lubricated.

I feel like the translation of the tokidoki characters to toys works less well for the cup range than the other types of toys in the collection- aside from their presence on the packaging, the only real tokidoki-esque thing is the fact the internal textures seem vaguely inspired by cute, bold graphic designs. The variant I chose- Bones- has the tokidoki logo as its texture. But the link seems more tenuous here than with the vibes from the collection.

If, like me, you have non-standard male anatomy, you can use the Pleasure Cup to create suction around your anatomy, but it’s a bit fiddly. I enjoyed what suction I did get, but as my cock (including the hood) only just about fills up the unstretched opening, I didn’t expect to get much suction. What is its strength is using it as a stroker. I tried using it two ways- the first placing my cock inside the cup and rubbing it from the outside, and secondly turning the cup inside out, filling it with my fingers, and rubbing it against myself like that or holding my hand still and rubbing myself up against it.

I do have to take a moment to talk about the noises it made, because holy fuck I was into that. I added just a little lube (Sh! Pure Plus, in case you were wondering) and the slick wet noises I got from the cup were fantastic. (They’re sexier than I make them sound, promise!) The sensations I got from the cup were good, but I feel like using it how I did would only really be useful for people who can orgasm from hands alone reasonably easily. It did make my orgasm stronger and harder when it came- I had shaky legs a good ten minutes later- but if I wasn’t able to cum from using my bare fingers, I feel like it wouldn’t have done much. It didn’t make getting to orgasm any easier or faster. The texture is reasonably pronounced, but I’m used to frottage against firm and solid silicone, so even though the TPE material is thick and dense, it doesn’t live up to the benchmark I’ve set for myself.

I don’t know if I can really say I recommend this product, given I’m not using it as intended. I have absolutely no idea what it’s like for people with standard issue penises, and this is the group the toy was designed for. However, I did manage to sate my curiosity about if it was compatible with my anatomy. The cup does have limited uses, and it can’t be sterilised. I don’t think it would work with dyadic AFAB anatomies that haven’t had testosterone growth. But if you have a t-dick/clit, are into frottage, and either looking to just try a cup out or are fine with the disposable nature of the pleasure cup, then it might be worth getting one to try out.

This toy was purchased of my own free will, and I was not compensated in the form of cash or a free toy in return for a review. Affiliate links were used in this post
